The Cricket Australia awards recognise excellent performance and outstanding initiatives in all areas of community cricket volunteering, club administration, officiating, participation, diversity and inclusion and program development.
Queenslanders were celebrated on the national stage in the following categories:
Community Cricket Club of the Year
Winner: QLD Southern District Magpies Cricket Club (Toowoomba)
Junior Initiative of the Year
Winner: QLD North Queensland Country Cup
Community Match Official of the Year
Winner: QLD Alison Fairleigh (Townsville)
Partnership of the Year
Winner: QLD St George Cricket Association & South West School Sport
Technology & Media Initiative of the Year
Winner: QLD The Cricket Show - Wide Bay
Celebrating Cricket in Schools
Winner: QLD Joshua Wardell - Spring Mountain State School
There was also notable acknowledgement of a trio of community cricket initiatives that were announced as runners-up in their respective categories, including Queensland Cricket’s Volunteer of the Year, Andrew Guest from Cairns.

Women and Girls Initiative of the Year

Announced during National Volunteer Week, two finalists were selected in 13 categories with the nominees all demonstrating the amazing support thousands of volunteers across the game provide for their local clubs and associations.
Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson said the recognition of the individuals and associations on the national stage was a fitting way to highlight exceptional efforts by cricket volunteers.
“The celebration of volunteers is something we never tire of, and Queensland Cricket will continue to dedicate itself to supporting the grassroots wherever we can,” he said.
“It’s outstanding to see so many regional achievers acknowledged, and we thank them for their unstinting efforts.”
