Volunteer of the Year | Darling Downs & South-West Queensland

Queensland Cricket is very proud of the outstanding contribution these volunteers make to the success of cricket in Queensland, and the work of these individuals, clubs and associations make at the grassroots level represents a major stake in the overall strength of the game.

Twelve incredible volunteers will be recognised across the state at the upcoming Queensland Cricket Awards Gala. In the lead up to the awards, their contributions to the game will be shared across Queensland Cricket’s social media channels.

The ninth volunteer to be recognised is Megan Kruger, Volunteer of the Year in the Darling Downs & South-West Queensland region.

Megan is described as the backbone of her cricket association, Chinchilla & Districts Cricket Association and is the wearer of many hats at her organisation. She coordinates the Junior Cricket programs as well contributing significantly to the coordination of the Senior Cricket programs. She is the go-to person for registration questions, and anything related to MyCricket or PlayHQ. Image Id: 56381F1B7DF84693A53670ED7F243DD5

Megan is also the head canteen coordinator and never fails to be in the canteen or scoring at a cricket game. She also works hard with finding sponsors for events and organises uniforms and equipment. For example, she organised a pink round where all of our juniors and seniors were involved and all profits for the round went to the McGrath Foundation.

Additionally, Megan is the main driver of improving facilities and standards at CDCA and is currently working with a master planner for future upgrades. She is the grants officer at CDCA and has attended several workshops to get a better understanding of how grants work and has been successful with a number of grant applications already this season. She has also taken it upon herself to complete her level 1.5 coaching and level 1 umpiring courses in order to have a more well-rounded understanding of the game.
