Redlands Claim Premiership

Redlands claimed a 9-wicket outright victory over the University of Queensland on Sunday after losing just one wicket in chase of the 113 runs they required for victory at Allan Border Field.

Stephen Muller and Bulls batsman Sam Heazlett both hit half centuries as the Tigers won their first Cam Battersby Cup since 2015-16.

Redlands added six runs to their total of 9/319 on Saturday following last weekend’s opening two days to take their first innings advantage to 97. Uni then compiled 206 in their second innings thanks largely to 73 from Bryce Street, however it was not enough to dent the Redlands premiership charge.

The Tigers’ charge was led by off-spinner Jack Sinfield who took 10 wickets for the match to win the Andy Bichel Medal as Player of the Final. Captain Simon Milenko claimed five second innings wicket, while James Bazely was the game’s top scorer with 91 runs in Redlland’s first innings.
