Northern Suburbs are the first team through to the Final of the KFC T20 Max competition tomorrow night at Allan Border Field.
Norths Into Max Final
The Vikings won a closely fought clash with defending title-holders Gold Coast at Ian Healy Oval last night, with dynamic allrounder Nikhil Chaudhary (pictured above) proving the difference thanks to a stunning 71 from 28 balls.
Norths were on the backfoot at 5-75 before the Indian-born Chaudhary counter-attacked, launching seven sixes over the ropes as Norths charged to 7-165. Hobart Hurricanes allrounder Mitch Owen finished with 3-26 from his four overs and Brisbane Heat star Michael Neser 1-33, while first-season recruit Bailey Kenzie continued his strong start to the summer with 1-21 from four overs.
The Dolphins fought hard in the chase, ultimately falling eight runs short to be held at 8-157. Captain Hugo Burdon moved to the top of the T20 Max run-scoring list with his 36, while Neser (29) and Xavier Bartlett (20) did their best to manage the chase.
A late flurry from second-gamer Zak McDermott gave them hope, with the TSS product clouting 22 from eight balls.
Burdon finishes the competition with 379 runs at 75.8 including four half centuries in his eight games.
Ipswich take on Toombul tonight at Allan Border Field, with the match streamed live on KAYO Freebies and online.
