Fire Win Again

The Queensland Fire will head into the next phase of the Women's National Cricket League in December in top spot after claiming another bonus-point win today over Victoria at Peter Burge Oval.

Queensland allrounder Charli Knott (pictured above attempting a run out today) earned player of the match honours with a top score of 45 and figures of 2-36 from eight overs.

Victoria batted first and with Meg Lanning (73no from 71 balls) in commanding form for the second game in a row, Queensland was again able to take wickets regularly to restrict the visitors to 167.

Pace bowler Courtney Sippel claimed 4-40 to give her eight wickets from the two matches, while leg-spinner Grace Parsons claimed 3-36.

The Fire were made to work hard in their chase, but reached 7-168 in the 39th over to clinch the extra point to move into top pot on the WNCL ladder after four games. Captain Georgia Redmayne (37) and allrounder Grace Harris (29) provided handy runs while Mikayla Hinkley (14no) was a calm head at the end of the innings.

Queensland will resume their WNCL campaign after the Weber Women's Big Bash League that gets underway next week.
