Five New Synthetic Wickets Have Opened In Mackay

Mackay Cricket Association now have 5 new synthetic pitches at Park Vigoro!

With the support from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, the Mackay Cricket Association were able to replace the pitches at the Nita Fleming Vigoro fields with 5 new Gabba wickets.

Now participants within the association will be able to play and train on wickets built to the Australian Cricket standards, providing them the greatest safety and experience.

Round 1 of the 2023/24 Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund opens on the 1st of November.

Queensland Cricket's indigenous artwork was collaboratively designed by Queensland Fire player and proud Kunja woman Mikayla Hinkley and Brisbane Indigenous artist, Delores McDonald (“Aunty Delly”).

The centre circle represents the Gabba, alongside other water holes which used to be near the ground. 87 black strokes on red earth represent the wickets taken by Aboriginal great, Eddie Gilbert who played 23 games for Queensland.
