Queensland have included opener Bryce Street in their Sheffield Shield squad for the first time this season as the Bulls host Tasmania at Allan Border Field from tomorrow.
Bulls Call On Street
Street is coming off back-to-back centuries for University of Queensland in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition and will extend his opening partnership with clubmate Angus Lovell into the first class arena.
Lovell, who also scored a century for UQ last weekend to continue his current batting purple patch, is coming off his maiden first class century for Queensland, scoring 146 not out in the draw against NSW at Cricket Central (pictured above).
Pace bowler Tom Whitney, who produced a memorable debut last month against South Australia, returns to the squad after recovering from a bruised heel, while fellow quick Mark Steketee also comes into the line-up after overcoming an ankle injury.
Whitney achieved the third best match figures on debut for Queensland of all time, with his 8-119 placing him behind Mick Polzin (who took 11 wickets on debut in 1986-87) and spinner Jack Stackpoole who claimed nine wickets on debut in 1939-40.
Players not available for selection as they return from injury include Michael Neser (hamstring, 4-6 weeks), James Bazley (side strain) and Benji Floros (heel).
Xavier Bartlett, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne are on international duties or preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series that gets underway next week.
Tomorrow’s match will be streamed live on cricket.com.au and Kayo, with play underway from 10am Qld time.
Admission is free.
