Qld Name Squads

Queensland will look to build on their recent form surge when the Bulls take on competition leaders NSW at Allan Border Field tomorrow in the newly renamed Dean Jones One Day Cup and the Queensland 2nd XI travel to Canberra.

The Bulls were last start limited overs winners prior to the BBL break, defeating Tasmania in Hobart in December, and are coming off a strong showing in the Sheffield Shield yesterday where they defeated the Blues outright at the Gabba.

Rising pace bowler Callum Vidler has been named in the One Day squad for the first time and would make his List A debut if chosen in the starting side.

Vidler, an Australian Under-19 rep last year, made his first class debut for the Bulls at the end of last season.

Queensland will rest first class pacemen Michael Neser, Mark Steketee and Tom Straker to assist their build-up to next week’s important Shield match against Western Australia at the Gabba.

Allrounder Jack Wildermuth comes into the match off a stand-out KFC Queensland Premier Cricket innings for Valley over the weekend, hitting 176 from 180 balls including 14 fours and 9 sixes against Sunshine Coast.

Queensland sits in fourth spot on the ladder with two matches remaining, against the Blues tomorrow and WA next Sunday Feb 23 at the Gabba.

Queensland’s clash with NSW will be streamed on KAYO Sports and through cricket.com.au

Meanwhile Queensland batter Jack Clayton will be sidelined with a mild hamstring injury for the next few weeks, after being forced to retire hurt in the second innings of the Shield game against NSW.

Clayton was player of the match following match-defining knocks of 134 and 76no.

Meanwhile prodigal Canberra son Benji Floros will spearhead the Queensland 2nd XI’s attack next week when they take on the ACT in the nation’s capital.

Floros made his first class debut for Queensland earlier in the season, playing against NSW in Sydney, where he suffered a foot injury that ruled him out until recently.

The tall right-arm paceman has previously played 2nd XI matches for the ACT.

Bulls squad member Hugo Burdon, who scored a fine century in the last 2nd XI match at Redlands, will again captain the side.
