While wet weather continues to frustrate the Queensland men's team at the National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Mackay, the women's team has had better fortune.
Qld Women Make Splash At NICC
WIth the competition reverting to a T10 format to allow postponed matches due to weather to be made up, Queensland has had two strong wins so far as well as a loss to defending title holders NSW in the opening rounds of the women's competition at Harrup Park.
After accounting for WA last night, Queensland was too strong for Victoria today.
The win over WA featured solid efforts from Dharmini Chauhan who claimed 2-8 as WA was held to 6-51 before captain Christina Coulson (23no) and Grace Abdy (13no) chased down the total in 7.4 overs to finish 2-43.
Against Victoria, Coulson hammered 37 from 22 balls and Mackay's Tracee Williamson hit 32 from 28 balls as Queensland posted 5-88. Young pace bowler Juliette Wenitong then claimed 3-8 from her two overs as Victoria finished 5-39.
The men had their match against Tasmania abandoned after they had scored 1-72 from their overs, thanks to Cruz Baker hitting 31no and captain Dylan McLachlan contributing 22no.
Their match against Victoria was also abandoned. Queensland are set to play defending champs WA tonight at 8.30pm and then Northern Territory and South Australia tomorrow.
