Women’s Premier Cricket to include 11th team in 2025/26, with Toombul Bulls being elevated into Girls Under 16 and Womens 2nd Grade competitions.
Toombul Promoted To Women's Premier Cricket For 2025/26
The Bulls have enjoyed success in the Brisbane Women’s Cricket competition in recent years, with standout performances that saw them finish as back-to-back Premiers in 2023/24 and 2024/25, losing only one game across the two seasons.
The club’s impressive run extends beyond the senior team – In recent years Toombul has developed a Female Blast program which is led by qualified Female Coaches and established Stage 1 and 2 all girls teams.
Boasting over 700 registered participants from Cricket Blast through to Men’s 1st Grade, Toombul is one of the foundation clubs in Queensland Premier Cricket established in 1897.
Queensland Cricket’s Head of Elite Cricket Operations, Nick Stuart, said Toombul had showcased impressive progress and are well-positioned to capture and build on current momentum.
“Toombul has demonstrated continued growth and program sustainability, particularly strong club governance, exemplified by their robust Female Development Plan and the development of several female leaders,” he said.
“This next step is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved.”
Toombul’s President, Andrew Cranstoun, echoed the excitement surrounding the club’s elevation.
“We’re really excited about being elevated to the Women’s Premier Cricket and being highly competitive in this space next season,” he said.
“This was an important step for us to build stronger pathways for our youth into the future.”
“Our member base is thrilled and our playing group is looking forward to putting the hard work in over the winter and preparing for a big year ahead!”
Toombul’s Head of Women’s Cricket, Elise Hart, reflected on the journey that brought the club to this point.
“We are really excited to be going into Women’s Premier Cricket. The decision to go up has been largely driven by the players and is very much aligned to the clubs strategic plan,” she said.
“The club has a proud history in Queensland Premier Cricket including women’s cricket teams in the 1980’s. There has been a tremendous amount of work by a lot of people to re-establish a Women’s program and pathways and then position the club to achieve this outcome.”
Toombul’s entry will see Girls Under 16 and Women's 2nd Grade competitions expand to an eleven-team competition in 2025/26.
