U19s Fall Just Short

The Queensland Under-19 men's team narrowly missed clinching the National titles this week in Albury, finishing as runners-up after winning all of its lead-in matches.

Queensland was defeated by NSW Metro in a rain-affected clash that was determined by DLS.

The young Maroons had finished the regular competition undefeated and then overcame Vic Metro in the semi-final to book their clash with NSW.

NSW won their second title in as many seasons, awarded the Rodney Marsh Shield for their victory.

Australia's Under-19 World Cup squad is expected to be named next week to prepare for the ICC Youth Cup in South Africa.

Western Suburbs batsman Tom Campbell (290 runs at 58) was the leading runs-scorer in the tournament, passing 50 three times including a run-a-ball hundred against WA.

He and Gold Coast paceman Cody Reynolds were named in the team of the tournament.

The Queensland Women's Under-19 team will be in action later this month, with Brisbane hosting the National titles.
