The Queensland Fire have today extended their lead at the top of the Women's National Cricket League ladder with their second bonus point win in as many games.
Fire Extend Lead
Queensland made it back-to-back wins over the ACT Meteors in Canberra, cruising to a nine-wicket win today at EPC Solar Park.
The victory was set up for the Fire by former ACT player Zoe Cooke, a late inclusion in the Queensland side after Courtney Sippel withdrew during warm-ups due to a back complaint.
Cooke was named Player of the Match for an accurate display of pace bowling, claiming 3-25 from 10 overs with four maidens, as the home team was dismissed for 157 in the 43rd over.
As was the case on Tuesday, opening batters Georgia Voll (69no) and captain Georgia Redmayne (43) put on another match-winning stand, this time combining for a partnership of 121.
Queensland finished 1-158 from 29.1 overs.
The Fire will play their next games in the New Year when they host South Australia at Allan Border Field on 5 and 7 January.
