WBBL Brisbane Heat players Lucy Hamilton, Lily Bassingthwaighte and Lucy Bourke headline the Queensland Under-19 squad for the National Female Championships in Perth next month.
Qld U-19 Female Squad Announced
Hamilton, who has played in the Heat’s past two victories, will be joined by squad members Bourke and Bassingthwaighte as well as Spring T20 Challenge Heat player Lilli Hamilton in the Maroons’ line-up for the titles.
While Bourke and Bassingthwaighte are yet to make their debuts in this season’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League, they also played in the Spring Challenge last month where the Heat team featured as runners-up.
Lucy Hamilton, pictured above in action for the Sunshine Coast, captained the Australian Under-19 squad in the Tri Series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Brisbane recently, where allrounder Bassingthwaighte also started.
The pair of Year 12 students will take the lead in an exciting line-up that features several players who gained their starts in regional Queensland before showcasing their skills in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition.
Bundaberg-based Hamilton and Warwick’s Bourke are joined by Maryborough’s Grace Collins, Catherine White from the Isis Cricket Club in Childers, Trinity Doyle from Marburg, Toowoomba’s Lilli Hamilton and Mahli Rea, from Boyne Island-Tannum Sands club near Gladstone.
Sunshine Coast Scorchers, which contest the Final of the Katherine Raymont Shield T20 competition on Sunday, have four representatives, as do Western Suburbs, while T20 semi-finalists Wynnum-Manly have three selections.
Queensland finished as runners-up last season.
The squad announcement today coincides with the culmination of Women and Girls’ Week activities around Queensland and Australian cricket that runs until Sunday.
