Phase 1 - Youth Pre-Season Development Program
Delivered by Queensland Cricket's Elite Player Development programs staff, this program integrates an introductory strength and conditioning and specific skill development program delivered at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Identified players based in country regions have access to their regional Coach & Talent Specialists as well as local gym access to undergo the strength and conditioning program in their home town.
Phase 2 - Youth Leadership Program
Queensland Cricket Youth Leadership Program aims to develop the next generation of cricket leaders in Queensland. This program is designed for 8-10 male youth players identified as demonstrating leadership capabilities and ready to benefit from further development opportunities alongside club cricket commitments.
Phase 3 - Preparation and Championship
Approximately 8 weeks prior to each championship, a squad of 16 will be selected to integrate into a significant skills and physical development phase in preparation for the National Championships, coupled with player centric education opportunities and support through nutrition, leadership and mental performance.
The squad is selected based on consideration of performances in a mixture of Premier and Country Cricket, including the Lords Taverners competition, over several seasons as well as past performances in pathway competitions.
Further considerations such as player type and team balance, personal qualities and characteristics as well as future growth potential are also at the forefront of consideration.
During this pivotal phase, coaching staff will further identify the travelling squad of 13 players who will represent Queensland at each respective National Championships.
